On 20 May, Dr Jose Ramos Horta was sworn in as the new president of Timor-Leste after a solid victory on the 19 March 2022 election.

Dr. Horta clearly defeated a crowded field of 16 candidates with the critical support of the country’s pre-eminent political figure, Xanana Gusmao, who is considered the founding father of Timor-Leste.

During the inaugural events of Dr. Horta’s Presidency, CACCI Vice President Peter McMullin had the opportunity to call on former President Xanana Gusmao to congratulate him for the coalition’s success and show CACCI’s interest in continuing helping Timor-Leste’s policies for economic development and trade.
