Iran President’s visit to Pakistan is promising for future trade agreements: Atif Ikram Sheikh

Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Indus­try (FPCCI), has welcomed the visit of the President of Iran to Pakistan and stated that the establish­ment of a joint special economic zone between Pa­kistan and Iran is a positive step towards enhanc­ing economic relations between the two countries. Pakistan and Iran have huge opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment and IT sectors. Both countries not only desire mutual cooperation, but have also achieved the goal of en­hancing bilateral trade up to five billion dollars un­der a treaty, he added.

Mr. Ikram said that establishing strong trade relations with Iran is a positive step for the econ­omy and we should aim to strengthen the Paki­stan-Iran agenda by enhancing cooperation in var­ious sectors such as trade, energy and agriculture. During the Iranian President’s visit to Pakistan, the possibility of signing joint agreements is promising and the establishment of a bilateral economic zone at the government-to-government level will benefit the economy.
