Webinar on Textile Industry in Asia-Pacific: Opportunities, Challenges & Way Forward
The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) is inviting its members and friends to join the upcoming webinar on “Textile Industry in the Asia-Pacific Region: Opportunities, Challenges and the Way Forward,” to be held on Wednesday 23 September 2026 at 14:00 Taipei Time (11:00 Pakistan Time).
Jointly organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and CACCI, this 60-minute session will bring together two business leaders from two major textile producing countries, Pakistan and Bangladesh, to discuss developments, opportunities, and challenges facing the textile and garment industry.
Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI and ECO-CCI, Vice President of CACCI, and CEO of Mujahid Group of Industries, will feature the Pakistan market while a representative from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will present the Bangladesh textile market.
INTRODUCTION
The textile and garment industry remains one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most important manufacturing and export sectors, supporting extensive regional supply chains, employment, trade, and investment.
The scale of the industry is particularly evident in major regional producers. Pakistan’s textile and apparel exports reached approximately US$17.95 billion in FY2024–25, an increase of 8%, making the sector the country’s leading export segment. Bangladesh, meanwhile, recorded approximately US$39.35 billion in ready-made garment exports in FY2024–25, representing more than 81% of the country’s merchandise exports.
These figures underscore the importance of textiles and garments not only to individual economies, but also to trade and supply chains across the wider Asia-Pacific region.
The webinar will examine the current state and future prospects of the industry across selected Asia-Pacific economies. Speakers will share perspectives on market trends, production and export opportunities, regional supply chains, investment prospects, competitiveness, technological development, and the principal challenges confronting the sector.
The session will also provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about leading textile companies in the region and explore possibilities for greater business cooperation among CACCI members and partners.
